Speaking at Essence Festival, Vice President Kamala Harris only mentioned President Joe Biden once, instead opting to keep the spotlight on the dangers that a second Trump term poses.

Harris didn’t address Biden’s debate performance or the subsequent calls for him to step aside; instead, she brought up Trump’s criminal convictions as well as the Supreme Court decision granting presidents immunity for official actions.

‘This is probably the most significant election of our lifetime. We have said it every four years, but this one here is it,’ Harris said. ‘In 122 days, we each have the power to decide what kind of country we want to live in.’

Essence Festival, located in New Orleans, is the nation’s largest festival that celebrates Black culture. It’s currently in its 30th year, and Harris has regularly attended past festivals.
