THE 29TH INFANTRY DIVISION HAS A motto
NATURAL SOUND/Morley Piper/29th Infantry Division
"29 Let's Go!"
AND GO THEY DID.. INTO HISTORY.. NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF D-DAY� BUT BECAUSE THEY helped FREED THE FRENCH FROM THE NAZI occupation in World War II.
(Nats from a ceremony "70 years ago we were waiting for you. You were our last hope."

SHORTLY AFTER D-DAY, THE MEN OF THE 29TH INFANTRY DIVISION LIBERATED 10 SMALL TOWNS IN THE NORMANDY REGION INCLUDING THIS VILLAGE OF SAINT-CLAIRE-SUR-L'ELLE.
BUT THAT LIBERATION CAME WITH A HEAVY LOSS OF LIFE AND THAT'S WHY THE AMERICANS ARE SO REVERED HERE.

"We have a bond that is eternal. We went through life changing experiences during those extraordinary war years, the American army and our French allies, those events shall live with us forever."
AMERICAN VETERANS FROM WORLD WAR II LEFT AN IMPRESSION SO GREAT THAT THEY ARE OFTEN CALLED AMERICA'S GREATEST GENERATION.

"Probably because we were willing to die for the freedom of other people."
IT WAS A REPUTATION THAT'S FOLLOWED THESE MEN FOR 70 YEARS.
MORLEY PIPER, A D-DAY VETERAN FROM THE 29TH, BELIEVES THEIR LEGEND WILL LIVE ON AFTER THEY HAVE DIED.
