BB3 ~ Antifoul - Going from Finsulate to Coppercoat ~ sv Sea Odyssey

We just recently greatly improved our quality of life. After almost 3 years, we decided to take the Finsulate off and put Coppercoat on. It was a lot, not going to lie, but it was 100% worth it.

This is part two of what we did this summer to make Sea Odyssey (Fountaine Pajot, Saba 50) more comfortable to live in... and to live with.

Part one, BB2 - Safety and Summer Upgrades, was all about making life more comfortable at anchor, underway, and under the sun. From anchor alarm upgrades, freezer fan, sun canopy, extra points of contact, and a bunch of great little stuff in between. We are loving all the changes we made. Shit is getting cozy.

In between our Safety and Summer Upgrades, we go from Finsulate to Gelshield to Coppercoat. In this part two, we show you how it all went down. Once we catch you up on our Finsulate haul out history, we are back in Antalya, Turkey, and get busy. We go through what it took to take off the Finsulate, replace the barrier boat with Gelshield, and then go right into Coppercoat.

Like I said, it wasn't easy, but it was so worth it. Did all that hard work pay off? Yes, it did. Our first sail without the Finsulate was a huge success. No longer are we suffering at 5 knots with a wonky autopilot. The boat was faster and the autopilot did not strain to keep course. She feels great. She looks great. We are finally free of Finsulate and it is everything.

We go on to show, 9 months later, how the Coppercoat held up and our overall outlook.
