Описание к видео That Was the Year that Was - 1962 topical satire.

That Was the Week That Was, informally TWTWTW or TW3, was a satirical television comedy programme that aired on BBC Television in 1962 and 1963. It was devised, produced, and directed by Ned Sherrin and Jack (aka John) Duncan, and presented by David Frost.
The programme is considered a significant element of the satire boom in the UK in the early 1960s, as it broke ground in comedy by lampooning political figures. TW3 was broadcast from Saturday, 24 November 1962 to late December 1963. An American version under the same title aired on NBC from 1964 to 1965, also featuring David Frost.

It was the year astronaut John Glenn orbited the earth, the beginning of the Cuban missile Crisis, it was when The Beatles released their first single 'Love Me Do', the famous comedy duo 'Steptoe and Son' first appeared on television and the first James Bond film came to cinemas.
What a year that was!
This entertaining edition of the iconic show featured a satirical look-back at the entire year and includes musical offerings by Millicent Martin and David Kernan. The jazz styled live music was composed and performed by Ron Grainger.

Last broadcast on BBC television as part of a 'Sixty Years of the BBC' retrospective.
Full credit to the producers of this series and to the BBC for screening this look back at 1962.
