With budgets getting tighter I decided to do a tutorial using ONLY Dollar Tree painting supplies!🎨🖌 In this video I share what I noticed and some things to look out for if you use these supplies for painting.

Let me know if you've noticed the same things!

Here's what I noticed:

1. Dollar Tree still has great Mop Brushes! (Make up blush brushes)

2. Do a "tug test" on the brushes. Cheaper brushes may shed! My example was definitely not the norm, but proved this point. I would still buy that brush pack again because it came with the detail (small round) brush.

3. The acrylic paint is water soluble. Be careful not to use water when layering because previous dry layers might rehydrate and blend together or erase!

4. The paint is also more transparent. Make sure to dry each coat and layer to cover well!

5. The spouncers (sponge dabbers) and canvas board worked great!

6. I couldn't find artist sponges so I used kitchen sponges. Try to use sponges that aren't plastic so they are able to soak up the paint well.

Overall the Dollar Tree painting supplies I used worked just fine, however I had to work a little harder to get the results I wanted. I think they work great for kids and beginners just wanting to start out though! In the end it depends what's more important to you, saving money or saving time and effort. In general, you get what you pay for so if you are serious about getting more professional about painting you may want to invest in better quality tools. It really just depends what you are using them for!
