On May 15, 1882, a train stop in west Bell County marked the birth of a new town, named after the assistant general manager of that train, Frank Patrick Killeen.

From its humble beginnings of about 40 people, Killeen has grown into a thriving city, and is the 19th largest city in Texas with a population well over 100,000. It is one of the most diverse cities in the U.S. with people from various backgrounds and cultures.

On this special day, Mayor Debbie Nash-King hopes you will join her in wishing our great city a happy 141st birthday.
