Kuranda is also home to some world class wildlife attractions which offer close encounters and amazing experiences the whole family will enjoy. Kuranda Koala Gardens is home to – you guessed it – koalas and is one of the few places in the country where you have the opportunity to cuddle one.

It’s also home to an amazing array of all your favourite Aussie critters including wombats and wallabys, kangaroos and possums, water dragons, monitors and more.

While its neighbour in the Kuranda Heritage Markets, Birdworld Kuranda is home to one of Australia’s largest collection of free-flying birds including the iconic rainforest resident the Southern Cassowary. You have the opportunity to handfeed the birds and will be surrounded by living colour.

There’s lots of things to see and do at Kuranda, including taking a selfie with a life-size replica of an Allosaurus dinosaur, watching an Aboriginal cultural dance performance, or experience an amphibious World War II Army duck.

There’s even a Butterfly Sanctuary and the world’s first Cassowary Art Trail.
