formed by volcanic eruptions.
Surrounded by clear blue waters, these beautiful islands are still intensely
volcanically active. Here, you can see volcanic eruptions up close, making them
rare islands anywhere the world.
Stromboli, one of the Aeolian Islands, erupts a few times an hour every day.
Stromboli’s magma is not very sticky, so it has the tendency to erupt frequently
in relatively small eruptions. It is quite spectacular as the magma spray can
erupt like a fountain over 100 meters high.
