Open the Instagram app and go to your messages (top right corner).
Tap on the person’s profile and navigate to Privacy and Safety.
While Instagram enables end-to-end encryption by default, there is no direct toggle to turn it off.
To remove encryption, you can restrict the person, which will disable this feature.
After restricting, go back to your profile, tap on the three horizontal lines at the top right, scroll to Restricted Accounts, and unrestricted the user.
Finally, check your messages — end-to-end encryption will be disabled.
While Instagram currently doesn’t offer a simple toggle to turn off end-to-end encryption, restricting and unrestricting accounts is a workaround. I hope this video helps you understand how to manage your message security.
