MA Engaged Ecology | Schumacher College

The new MA Engaged Ecology at Schumacher College, starting January 2021, is a radical new programme for students looking to find solutions to the environmental crises of our time. Taking the Anthropocene as a starting point, you will gain the critical, transdisciplinary skills to engage with thequestions at the intersection expanding field of Ecology and Humanities, – to consider both as a science and an asa rea of social activism, but also as a cultural phenomenon with its related spiritual interpretations. Encouraging you to beginGrounding your enquiry with a practice-based approach, from weaving a piece of cloth or sowing seeds, for example or sowing seeds, the course will help you develop a personal understanding of ecology before building a theoretical or philosophical framework around your studies. You will find your own way to distil what it means to best act in the world, while developing skills that will shape your future in research, policy-writing, setting up ethical social enterprises or simply living the good life.
