Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer.com. And today we are looking at our Kuat Transfer V2 Single Bike Rack here on our 2020 Jeep Cherokee. This is a great bike rack if you like something that, if you're going on like a long road trip and you just need to carry around one bike, as well as, if you want the option to add another one in the future so you get two bikes. So one of its features is that it can tilt away and to do so, hold onto your bike as you do so, step on this lever, and then it will tilt down. And you will want to do this in order to access your rear hatch.

So as you can see, between the door and the bike, there's a lot of clearance allowing you to get into your trunk, maybe grab some clothes or your bike bag, or your water, your helmet; all without having to take off your bikes, which is great. And then when it's closed, and you want to lift the bike rack back up, you just lift it up, and it snaps into place. It's very light, very simple. The way our bike is mounted to this bike rack though is by over here, we have a wheel strap and here in the front, we have this front wheel mount. So when we want to take off the bike, what I do is I start by the wheel strap, I press that lever, and I pull this ratcheting strap up and then out of the way, then I go over here to the front and I press this lever and pull this hook up and out, and then it's just a slight lift, and you are ready to go on a bike ride.

Now with the bike out of the way, let's take a look at the bike rack itself. These straps over here are pretty nice because they have this lining on the inside which helps protect your bike's wheel from scuffs and scratches. And then this ratchets down to secure your wheel. Now, this fits a 3-inch wheel or 3-inch tire but if you have your fat bikes, you can pick up the fat bike adapter, which gives you a longer strap so that you can carry those too. And here we have our front wheel clamp this ratchets down as well to secure your bike.

And when it folded down position, you can see how it's nice and compact. You also have a tilting cradle which allows you to carry bikes of different wheel bases. And it has a capacity of 60 pounds. So if you have a fat tire bike, an electric heavy bike, both of those can work on this bike rack. Now, when you do have a bike rack, there is some length added to the back of your vehicle.

So let's take some measurements. From our back bumper, all the way to the end of our bike rack, right over here, it sits at 22 and a three quarter inches. So that's a fair amount of distance for a single bike rack. Just something to keep in mind when you are parking into your garage or parking to a tight spot. Let's take a look at ground clearance as well. So at the end of the bike rack, it sits at 15 and three quarter inches. Here by the shank, at the bottom of the shank, it sits at 10 and a half inches. So ground clearance is something to keep in mind, when you're going up a steep incline like a driveway or a hill. You can also fold up this bike rack. And to do so, you step on that lever again, and just lift it up. Notice how it has a nice gliding, smooth motion to fold up. And let's take some measurements again. So from our back bumper to the end of the bike rack which is actually by this lever, it sits at 13 inches. Closest point would be over here by the cradle. And it is 2 and three quarter inches. Now, the way this bike rack mounts to this vehicle is by the shank over here. And this shank fits into an inch and a quarter and 2 inch hitch receivers. It comes with a hitch pin and quick clip. You can upgrade this to a lock but it also has an integrated cable lock here in this side. So your cable lock comes out and can be wrapped around your bikes to secure them. It's also a sort of a tool-free install because you don't have a cable lock, you just pop it in there. And it comes with its own special 8-millimeter hex tool that you use to tighten it down. And that activates your anti-rattle mechanism. So when you have this tightened down, you can see how, I'll try to shake it as much as I can, most of the play is taken out of the bike rack because of that anti-rattle mechanism in the bike rack. So as you can see, the way it works with our Cherokee here is it's very small, it's very lightweight, as well as compact. We have everything open here. We have access to our tail lights as well as our window. You can see our li
