Brutal and Filthy Edwardian Doss House (Common Lodging House in Edwardian Era Manchester)

Описание к видео Brutal and Filthy Edwardian Doss House (Common Lodging House in Edwardian Era Manchester)

How risky was a night in a Common Lodging House? Thieves stealing your food and clothes! But that's not all – cheap beds for the poor and homeless meant dirty and overcrowded accommodation where violent fights were frequent and disease ever present. They were familiar in Victorian Britain and into the Edwardian Era. In this true documentary account from 1910 in Manchester, we join a vicar disguised as a tramp who visits a doss house, meets its poverty stricken residents and experiences the evil conditions for himself.
