Welcome to the "Are We Listening?: Pride, Diversity and Inclusion" evening conversation.
In celebration of Pride Month, the evening panel conversation featured leaders and members of the LGBTQ community, including valued allies. We welcome an honest discussion on the ways in which Door County has grown in diversity and inclusion. We will also thoughtfully express our shared realities on how we are being seen, heard and listened to.
Our panel conversation consists of the following extraordinary members and allies of the LGBTQ+ Door County community. Thank you for being part of this important community discussion.
The panel conversation was moderated by Cathy Grier who is a songwriter deeply committed to advocacy and civil rights and is the chair/founder of Open Door Pride.
The accomplished panel members are: Owen Alabado, founder and current President of Northern Door Pride and four-year Door County resident, formerly from Los Angeles; Sandy Brown, a dedicated advocate and founder and leader of FLAG (P-FLAG)
Door County since 1995; James Champion, is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the National Organization for Human Services, and works for We Are HOPE, Inc.; Andrea Frank, is a board member for Open Door Pride and a late-to-life lesbian; Amy Kohnle, is the compassionate Executive Director of United Way of Door County with the intention of making meaningful contributions to our community; Mike McCarthy, is a father first, community member, tax payer, cancer survivor, business owner, lover of life, lifelong learner and voter; and Jerod Santek, has championed many community organization, is the Founding and Artistic Director, Write On, Door County and a board member for the Sturgeon Bay Local Arts Board.
