The question asked was-When is guru dakshina given, why is it given and when does the guru ask for guru dakshina? Om Swami says that when initiation is given to a person, it is with the thought that some changes happen to the one initiated, and that the person can imbibe some qualities or certain skills. Whenever the disciple achieves it, the guru’s task is done, after which he has the right to ask for dakshina.

Om Swami says, to have absolute faith and devotion towards one’s guru is the highest form of guru dakshina. A faith and devotion which is so complete that there are no questions. He says that when he gives deeksha to anyone, his guru dakshina is that the person initiated should live a life of happiness, compassion and gratitude. Other than this he expects nothing more from a person.
