The Lollar Firebird pickups are some of our favorite tricks in the toolbox. They have the low end power and punch of a full humbucker, the midrange transparency of a single-coil, and a top end that is smooth yet perfectly enunciated. They’ll bark if you dig in and yes, they run noiseless like a humbucker. This particular RB6 is loaded with a trio of them, with the middle pickup engaged via a push/pull pot on the tone knob.

Combining the middle pickup with either of the outer pickups brings out Strat-like qualities in spades. You’ll find a real nice quack when pairing the middle and bridge pickups and get into “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” territory with the middle and neck combined. Engaging all pickups at once delivers a massive soundscape. In short, there’s no shortage of fantastic tones in this guitar.
