The deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash on Wednesday morning. Sources say the aircraft experienced a technical malfunction and the pilot immediately informed ATC. After noticing the glitch, the pilot made a MAYDAY call and requested permission for an emergency landing

After receiving permission from ATC, the pilot tried to make an emergency landing. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will now investigate the entire incident. Initial findings suggest that the visibility in the area was also very low making it tough for pilot to approch airstrip

Notably, Baramati airstrip lacks Instrument Landing System which means the pilots have to rely on manual & visual techniques.
