When did you last visit the dentist? With the country in the midst of a cost of living crisis, a check up is out of reach for many – almost two-thirds of all Australians put off a dental check up last year.

Dentists say the high cost of treatment can be a reason for people to defer treatment, but this can lead to further health complications down the track.

The Greens have launched a Senate inquiry to determine the scale of the problem and put forward major reforms such as expanding Medicare to include dental care.
