Upload #884 ~ HQ from UK 45 pictured ~~ Rousing UK Garage Beat group sound on a Gospel track covered by many Secular artists. Lo-Fi sound & a bizarre Clarinet lead, but keep listening as it's got a cool backing sound. 1965 is our estimate from the Philips style press & beat sound. These guys are probably Baptist Ministers now, but The Venturers from Spurgeon's College, South Norwood Hill SE25 London were Doug Hollidge (Vocalist & Clarinet), John Thompson (Bass Guitar), Don Kilbride (Rhythm Guitar), Ken Wolfe (Drums) with Keith Clarke, Phil Gouldson, Richard Soar & Roger Watkins on Vocal backing. One for The Eccentric Listener as these UK 1964-66 Gospel records do have the odd Beat Sounding goodie. "Sinnerman" on this EP is pretty good with similar backing if more vocal to hide the backing if "Just A Closer Walk" and "God Cares For You" are crooners with minimal backing so not cool if recorded better. Cover front is all black with the title, back has artist info & small picture. One we first got in 1996 as to try anything unknown brings reward.
