02-12-2022 White Deer, PA - Ice Jam Breaks Free, Forms New Ice Jams

I came back to check on the progress of Ice moving down White Deer Creek and found that while a lot of ice had moved, it formed ice jams in multiple spots. The ice is visible all along White Deer Pike headed East towards the Susquehanna River. Speaking with a resident, I learned that the ice is being jammed up by numerous trees, both standing and those that have fallen into the water. This jam will be the focal point of attention over the next week or two as additional warm-ups are forecast and chances for rain exist. The water level remains approximately 6 to 8 feet below the Harbeson Road bridge but fluctuations will likely occur as ice continues to move and jam up along the White Deer Creek.
