How much breast milk or formula should a newborn drink? Is Baby latching well? These 0-2 month feeding milestones are important signs that Baby is growing typically and gaining the skills they'll need for future development.

Tracking these milestones helps you support healthy feeding development and notice if Baby needs a little extra help.

Baby should meet these feeding milestones by 2 months:
✅ Latches on to nipple or bottle
✅ Drinks 2 oz. to 4 oz. of breast milk/formula per feeding
✅ Moves tongue forward and back to suck
✅ Sucks and swallows well during feeding

If Baby isn’t meeting their 0–2 month feeding milestones, talk to their healthcare provider. Early help for potential difficulties or delays can make a big difference in Baby’s development. Remember, it’s never too early (or too late) to get Baby on the right pathway!
