Doctor Who - Debney 1996

Happy new year! What better way to inaugurate 2024 than with the theme tune for a story that heralded the new millenium (even if it was 4 years ahead of schedule), by soundtrack mainstay of the 90s John Debney. I know him from Deep Space Nine!

I’m amazed I’ve not done this one before but I think now is the right time. The first truly orchestral version of the theme, it wouldn’t be until 2006 that the theme would be a live recording - the magic of sampling technology! It’s strange then to be using the same approach but with 2023 technology.

What’s criminal is just how short the official mix is. Maybe I should add some extra bars… 🤔
