Why your business is not ranking on Google ➡️ Fully Explained

☑️ Firstly, your branding your website but not making it crystal clear to Google on what it is exactly you do.

You may think it’s clear, but it’s not actually helpful.

Google needs to know who you are, what you do, who you serve, and where you are located. It needs to make the connection between entities and you have to help Google connect the dots.

☑️ Secondly, your website it is up and seems ok but then you never start ranking. This is probably a technical SEO issue.

Webpages can be set to no index, meaning they will never be indexed or added to Google.

There may be no site map 🗺️ on your website. Crawlers use this to dig into your website to see what is there. If this is not there or not submitted to Google Search Console your website may never be discovered 😱

-Google only crawls part of your website not the entire thing at once. If you have pages on pages on pages. Google will only crawls so far.

-Similar to above, if you have many pages and they are not properly linked, they will get orphaned. And if Google has no way to reach the orphan pages they will not get indexed.

☑️ Thirdly, if Google doesn’t trust you it will not rank you!

It does not matter how credible you make yourself seem on your website, if you have no reviews, citations, or high quality links to back this up you will not rank high on the SERPs.

Always ask your clients to leave you a review if you have done a good job 👏. Reviews on multiple 3rd party sites will help a lot.

Make sure you are on all of the main business directories. Use a platform like BrightLocal to get listed and to schedule Google Business Profile posts.

If you’re a contractor get reviews on Houzz 🏠

If you’re a therapist create a profile on Psychology Today 🧠

If you’re a physician 👩‍⚕️ collect reviews on Zoe Doc.

And if your a brand new small business join your local chamber of commerce platform to get more credibility.

You also need Backlinks. These are tough to get. You have a few options here:

1. Buy them. Everyone does it, you just need to buy from the correct places. I use Authority Builders.

2. Manual outreach… AKA email hundreds of people a month asking to create a Guest Post or do a ABC link exchange. There may also be some fees here too.

3. Create linkable assets. Make content so good that other websites and bloggers will want to link to it. This will have to be long format, informative, entertaining, contain stats, graphs, images, and Infographs.

Doing all of this takes time and a lot of effort. It is not a one and done thing. This is a long term marketing investment.
