দুর্গাপূজা বা দুর্গোৎসব হল হিন্দু দেবী দুর্গার পূজাকে কেন্দ্র করে প্রচলিত একটি উৎসব। দুর্গাপূজা সমগ্র হিন্দুসমাজেই প্রচলিত। তবে বাঙালি হিন্দু সমাজে এটি অন্যতম বিশেষ ধর্মীয় ও সামাজিক উৎসব। আশ্বিন বা চৈত্র মাসের শুক্লপক্ষে দুর্গাপূজা করা হয়।

সাধারণত আশ্বিন মাসের শুক্ল পক্ষের ষষ্ঠ থেকে দশম দিন পর্যন্ত শারদীয়া দুর্গাপূজা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এই পাঁচটি দিন যথাক্রমে "দুর্গাষষ্ঠী", "মহাসপ্তমী", "মহাষ্টমী", "মহানবমী" ও "বিজয়াদশমী" নামে পরিচিত। আশ্বিন মাসের শুক্ল পক্ষটিকে বলা হয় "দেবীপক্ষ"। দেবীপক্ষের সূচনার অমাবস্যাটির নাম মহালয়া; এই দিন হিন্দুরা তর্পণ করে তাঁদের পূর্বপুরুষদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধানিবেদন করে। দেবীপক্ষের শেষ দিনটি হল কোজাগরী পূর্ণিমা। এই দিন হিন্দু দেবী লক্ষ্মীর পূজা করা হয়।

Durga Puja (Bengali: দুর্গাপূজা, / দুৰ্গা পূজা, ), also called Durgotsava, is an annual Hindu festival in the Indian subcontinent that reveres the goddess Durga. It is particularly popular in the Indian states of West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, and Odisha and Bangladesh. The festival is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Ashvin, typically September or October.

The primary Goddess revered during Durga Puja is Durga, but her stage and celebrations feature other major deities of Hinduism such as goddess Lakshmi (goddess of wealth, prosperity), Saraswati (goddess of knowledge and music), Ganesha (god of good beginnings) and Kartikeya (god of war). In the Bengali traditions, the other deities next to her side are considered to be the children of Durga (Parvati). The Hindu God Shiva, as Durga's husband, is also revered during this festival.

The start of the festival is marked with Mahalaya (মহালয়া) , which takes place seven days prior to the main festival. The main festival takes place after seven days. Durga worship and celebrations begin in elaborately decorated idol of Debi Durga (দেবী দুর্গা) ,temples and pandals with rhythmic beatings of the dhak (ঢাক) .The festival consists of Shashthi ( ষষ্ঠী), Maha Saptami (সপ্তমী) , Maha Ashtami (অষ্টমী ) and Maha Nabami (নবমী). The last day of the festival is Bijoya Dashami (বিজয়া দশমী) when the immersion of the Durga idol takes place. On the day of Bijoya Dashami, people meet each other and exchange greetings and young people pay their respects to the elders.
