Nestled in the heart of western Pennsylvania, Zelienople is a town that whispers its rich history through its well-preserved architecture and vibrant community spirit. Founded in 1802 by German immigrants seeking religious freedom, the town has evolved into a quaint haven for residents and visitors alike.

The name Zelienople comes from the name of Baron Dettmar Basse's (1762–1836) eldest daughter. (Zelie was her chosen name, but her given name was Fredericka.) In 1802, Baron Basse purchased 10,000 acres of land in Butler and Beaver counties for 25 cents an acre. He laid out the town of Zelienople and it was chartered as a borough in 1840.

One of the town's charming landmarks is the Strand Theater, a historic venue that has stood since 1914, offering entertainment and a glimpse into the past.
