Trains returned today and are hauling passengers for the first time in almost a half year! Cincinnati stopped running the street cars back in March due to the virus. This is the Cincinnati Bell Connector that runs in the streets of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. I filmed them at the railroad diamond in the middle of the street at Race and 12th Street. If you like trams aka streetcars, this is the best spot in the city to watch them. I also filmed them in front of Music Hall. The city has decided to run them for free. Mayor Cranley was against that and he has been anti street car since the idea first came up and he almost killed them before they got started. The mayor is still trying to idle the trams. Ridership was very light today on their first day back but the streets were pretty empty due to the virus. I also have videos of when the street cars first started running after construction including a video of a test train that was filled with barrels of sand to imitate the weight of the passengers. That video was filmed on December 7, 2015. The street cars have been running for the public since September 9, 2016 with a few temporary shut downs including this long shut down of almost 6 months. They run on a 3.6 mile loop. I like to see them running so I hope that they are successful and stay in the city. Filmed September 2, 2020.
