Naag Devta mela is celebrated at many places in Uttarakhand Garwal. Naag Devta is worshiped as their main Devta as it is called kul devta. Every year mela is celebrated to worship them in the month of Sravana. It is celebrated in 12 villages one by one as people from all villages come together and enjoy this mela. It is belived that the Naag Devta belong to Molda Village in Uttarakshi district. In very first Naag Devta was searched in Molda village then people from Molda started worshiping in them. Devta did good deed with villagers by doing this Naag Devta become popular in entire village. People from another villages starting following Naag Devta and started worshiping them. Naag Devtas are two brother as one called Bhonsar and Ponsar in local language but in Hindi they are called Mandleshwar and Pontiyeshwar Devta. As Devta become famous in many vlllages people starting doing a Mela in their villages as this Mela become popular in some time. This Culture Mela is very good and famous as now also this show you real experience of Village Life in Uttarakhand with a spritual event. Naag Devta Mela is celebrated with dance, people are holding devta and dancing, villages are dancing in a group in temple's ground, people are singing a local song. Entire Mela is enjoyed with many traditional Riti Riwaz and Uttarakhand culture activities. This Mela is now celebrated in 12 villages in the area. People in the village invites their belonging from another villages to witness this Pahadi Mela festival. This is known as Naag Devata Mela in entire area. Gram Panchyat organize this holy mela in their village this becomes once in a year as this is very especial month as per Hindu.
main Purohit of Devta belong from Molda Village and Ponti village as one year devta lives in Molda and next year in Ponti village. Anyone can come and enjoy this village life style mela in any village where this mela becomes.
Uttarakhand has many devta as it is called Dev Bhumi Uttarakhand and every mela has different lifestyle and culture. Mela is celebrated to meet with another people and have a healthy relationship with their friends, relatives and families. As Garwali culture is famous all over in India. Devta during the mela goes in 12 villages day by day. As main pujari of Naag Devta also goes with devta in every village as pooja is done by them also.
Devta pooja is done every day to take bless from devta. It is believed that devta do good deed with everyone in the all villages.
