INCREDIBLE LIZARD EVOLVES TO USE HANDS TO CATCH FOOD! Green Tree Monitor Feeding

Sabzi the green tree monitor (Varanus prasinus) getting some enrichment during feeding time 🦎.

One of the most fantastic behaviours exhibited by Varanus prasinus complex is their ability to use a tactile function to secure or reach prey in spaces they cannot get to with their mouths. I’ve even seen my own animals pin down prey that was moving or squirming with their hands while they secured it!

This is truly extraordinary, and in my opinion, serves as a testament to how intelligent these reptiles are and how necessary enrichment is as part of their care and husbandry in captivity! You can practically see the gears turning in her head ⚙️🧠!
