Описание к видео 5 amazing future space missions | Breakthrough Starshot

Here are 5 amazing future space missions.

5. Breakthrough Starshot:
The aim is to send a spacecraft to Alpha Centauri star system in 20 years. The idea is to launch 1,000 tiny light sail spacecrafts called StarChips. The spacecraft will be accelerated to 15-20% of the speed of light using lasers on earth, thus completing a journey of 4.2 light years in just 20 years. This mission will enable ultra-fast space travel. The spacecraft will fly-by Proxima Centauri B, an exoplanet in the habitable zone.

4. James Webb Space Telescope:
The James Webb Space Telescope will be the successor of the Hubble Space Telescope. The infrared telescope will search for the first galaxies after the Big Bang, and how they had evolved. It will also observe the formation of stars from the first stages. It will measure the physical and chemical properties of planetary systems, and many more. It will operate at near-ultraviolet and near-infrared light, mid- to long-infrared spectrum; thus enabling it to see through the dust clouds. It will orbit earth and sun simultaneously at L2 point, about 1.5 million km from earth.

3. JUpiter Icy moons Explorer:
JUICE, acronym for JUpiter Icy moons Explorer, on behalf of ESA, is the first European mission to Jupiter. It will explore the three potentially ocean-bearing icy moons of Jupiter: Europa, Callisto, and Ganymede. It is a 7.5-year journey and 3.5-year tour of the Jovian system. It will carry 10 scientific instruments, with unprecedented electromagnetic cleanliness level. All the electronics will be housed in shielded vaults. It will have almost 100 m² of solar panels, the largest ever built for an interplanetary mission. JUICE will travel the farthest of all the scientific probes.

2. Square Kilometer Array:
Being 50 times more sensitive than the Hubble Space Telescope, it will be the world's largest and most sensitive radio telescope. It's not a single but an array of telescopes operating from Africa and Australia, spanning over 1 km². It will measure the effect of dark energy, and the large-scale structure of the cosmos. It will be sensitive enough to see as far back as 300,000 years after the Big Bang, and perhaps pickup faint radio signals from any extra-terrestrial civilisation.

1. Event Horizon Telescope:
In early 2019, the Event Horizon Telescope will capture the first ever image of a black hole. The black hole is Sagittarius A*, the super-massive black hole at the centre of the Milky way galaxy. EHT is composed of many radio observatories. Like SKA, the EHT is an array of telescopes, working together from all around the globe. Sagittarius A* has a mass of 4.3 million suns, and is located at a distance of 27,000 light years from earth.
