This type of knife was produced in Thiers, Chatellerault, and in other French manufactories in the 19th - first half of the 20th century. Such recognizable grips with a characteristic "pistol" - type curvature have been used on regional French knives known as "Capuchin" since the 18th century. In the second half of the 20th century, it was this type of handle that became the calling card of many modern fighter-style knives.
One of the "surin" - types of knives used by the "les apaches de Paris", Parisian street gangs of the Bell Epoque period ( late 19th - first quarter of the twentieth century).
The song in the video - "La Roquette", was written by French author Aristide Bruant in 1889. The song is sung on behalf of "Parisian apache" - a prisoner of the prison "Grand Roquette".
