Suzlon Foundation works in villages surrounding Suzlon's business operations, wind farms and manufacturing facilities to ensure that business is helping and not harming its environment. With 'Sustainable Development for Sustainable Economy' as the CSR motto, and engage, empower and sustain as their approach with stakeholders, Suzlon's CSR has undertaken a range of participatory development initiatives.

In the arid desert of Rajasthan the women of this village had to travel up to 4 km every day to fetch water. Because of the long, hard journey they could only bring enough water for drinking purposes alone. By building a tank for storage of rain and tanker water there is now plenty of water to drink, bathe in and clean clothing and houses. Women now no longer have to travel two hours to retrieve water.

Water conservation initiatives have been implemented across over 70 villages in Rajasthan housing over 2,000 families. Roof top harvesting facilities, Naadies, Kheli, Beries and Taankas were built. This resulted in women's drudgery being reduced and, in one year, 60,000 cubic meters of water being conserved. But ultimately, the impact is more resources and increased productivity. Every year more structures will be identified and collectively improved, as the outcomes are visible and satisfying.
