Trevor Hollenback - A Tour of my Sheep Shearing Stand

Описание к видео Trevor Hollenback - A Tour of my Sheep Shearing Stand

This is video tour of the stand I created back in 2014. A stand of this sort enables me to shear sheep with an overhead motor (Lister Nexus) and rigid drop tube (i.e. driveshaft) wherever I happen to find myself (open field, dry lot with nothing but sheep panels around, etc.). It has been with me to Arizona (Navajo Reservation), Southern Oregon, and all across California, and I transported it to all those locations in a 2012 Honda Fit. I used stands like this one when I sheared sheep in Austria and reverse engineered them upon my return when I sat down to create this one. For traveling to remote shearing jobs of small flocks (generally 100 head and under) in a small vehicle, I cannot think of a better setup. Many people do not have the infrastructure to allow mounting an overhead commercial shearing motor on shearing day; with this setup, you can shear at any location, anytime.

A few things I didn't mention in the video:
1. This stand, and stands like it, must only be used on a firm level surface.
2. DISCLAIMER:
This is strictly a visual tour of my shearing stand. If you choose to make your own, you and only you are responsible for ensuring that the stand you create is safe and will not endanger you or anyone working around you while it is being used. Sheep shearing is inherently hazardous work and a great deal of care should be put into the design of any workspace or equipment used while working. Be careful and be smart!

Please feel free to visit my website or contact me at anytime if you have questions. Happy to offer my (admittedly modest amount of) shearing wisdom to anyone embarking on the shearing journey.
