Before, During & After the Modernization on the Elevators at Holiday Inn Winnipeg South

This modernization is absolutely horrible! The old elevators worked completely fine and did NOT need to be modded!! Holiday Inn totally wasted there money doing this modernization! This mod also took FOREVER to complete!! The first elevator (Elevator #1) started getting modded in January 2020, and was finished sometime around June or July 2020. After that they put the mod on hold for over a year because this hotel was being used as a covid isolating place for people who couldn't isolate anywhere so they tuned off one of the elevators (Elevator #3) and reserved it for those people and used the other two for guests. Finally sometime near the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022 they started modernizing the second elevator. (elevator #3) During this time they were still isolating people so they put the last original elevator (elevator #2) in independent service leaving guests with ONE ELEVATOR!!! Of course they used the new elevator for the guests since they think it is "so exceptionally smooth compared to the old ones" which it is not. It was like this until March 2022 when they put the last original elevator back in service. On May 18, the second mod was completed and they started to modernize the last elevator which was finished in August 2022.

The old elevators ran really well when all three of them were original. They were very fast, efficient and reliable. Even when they were modernizing the first elevator, the two original elevators still did fairly well but two elevators in an 11 floor building still wasn't great. Sadly, Holiday Inn decided to just stop maintaining the old elevator when they completed the first mod. It did have some issues were the doors would have trouble closing all the way. Also the old elevator got really glitchy when they put the new elevator in service and would stop at random floors. These issues were NOT a reason to modernize them because they were either caused by Holiday Inn's cheap lazy maintenance or because the old elevator was on the same controller as the new elevator. If they wouldn't have done the mod, these glitches wouldn't have happened. If they would have kept maintaining the old elevator, the door issues wouldn't have happened. As soon as they put the new elevator in service, the elevator service became absolutely awful. The new elevator and old one together didn't work properly. Even when they finished the second elevator the service was still bad. I still really feel like the elevator service was better with only 2 of the old elevators than its all 3 new ones!!

The difference between the new and old elevators is night and day! The old ones worked better, ran better, looked nicer, were more efficient and fun to ride. The new ones look ugly and genaric, they run bad and have delayed starts, they take forever to come and are glitchy! The new elevators are garbage compared to the old ones. Shame on the staff at Holiday Inn Winnipeg South for this useless, crappy mod and for destroying your awesome vintage elevators. They wasted a perfectly good elevator system. I would never stay here again because I am not giving them money after they destroyed these awesome elevators. Oh, and notice how elevator #3 broke after ONLY A FEW MONTHS OF SERVICE!!!! This was the same story with the first elevator after the mod, one time in October 2020 the only modded elevator at the time broke and since one elevator was in independent service the hotel was left with ONE ELEVATOR!!!!! Also the new elevators have had issues where they randomly bounce up about a foot for no reason WITH THE DOORS OPEN!!! It has happened twice in TWO DIFFERENT ELEVATORS!!! In fact elevator number 3 did it on its FIRST DAY OF SERVICE!!! What a garbage mod.

Also this hotel is dirty and run down which I think has gotten worse because they waisted all their money on this stupid mod, this hotel clearly has no idea of how to properly spend money and they do not deserve any money.

Even though I do hate this mod, I do still like modern elevators and I do think Otis does make good elevators on new installs. Just these are just horrible. So no, I do not hate modern elevators or think Otis's new elevators suck. I just HATE modernizations and think these elevators suck.
