Now here's my latest product review, installation, and demo video for RTOM's new Black Hole for Bass Drums. I've been a part of the artist team helping to test, and develop this product so I'm super excited for y'all to see this vid as the product absolutely rocks! For those who don't know about the Black Hole Practice system they are snap on mesh heads that allow you to practice quietly, and then pop em off in seconds for a full volume kit. This system allows me to have a fully triggered low volume kit for my online drum lessons/practice, that in 2 minutes I can turn into a fully miked, full volume kit to record YT videos, or to record drum tracks. Which is exactly what I do for my kit to teach online drum lessons, or for low volume practice using my Yamaha EAD10 as my drum brain/OH mic. What makes the whole system rock, however, is this awesome new Black Hole Bass Drum Model V2. It's EPIC. Easy to install, easy to remove. No rubber bands, and no issues with getting the right distance for your beater. Simply use the include Hoop extender for your pedal, and you are in business. OR you could do what I do which is use an Evans Dixson Bass Drum Lift. With this lift I get flawless bass playability, and triggering when using the new Rtom Black Hole Bass Drum Model V2. Moreover, it adds a tone of boom to your kick when not using the Black Hole, and kills it for tiny bass drums like my 16" Questlove Breakbeats kick. Watch the video, and I'm sure you'll see why I think this is THE mesh head for low volume practice or hybrid triggering when you have to have your kit ready for full volume shows.
