Nestled amidst the verdant embrace of Noosa Heads, the Witta Circle House by Shaun Lockyer Architects isn't just a residence; it's a captivating dialogue between architecture and landscape. Imagine a house cradled by a meticulously designed garden, its "C" shape gracefully following the contours of the land. One arm of the "C" stretches southward, a transparent pavilion bathed in light, its gaze fixed upon the shimmering expanse of the Noosa River. This is where the house truly comes alive, its very form dissolving into a seamless connection with the water's edge. The heart of the Witta Circle House lies in its duality. From the street, it presents a facade that is introverted, an enigmatic presence shrouded in a sense of privacy. But as you traverse the landscape and round the bend, the house unveils its extroverted side. The southern edge transforms into a celebration of openness, a transparent haven where the line between indoors and outdoors blurs beautifully. Here, the cool embrace of concrete provides a sturdy foundation, a canvas upon which the charred timber plays its part. This timber screen, reminiscent of a traditional Japanese shoji screen, filters the harsh northern sun, creating a dappled, inviting atmosphere within.
