Come along with me in this vlog, as I visit a book and paper show! It's like a little book-shopping art date. This is a market that specializes in rare, antique, vintage books, paper, and ephemera. There are all kinds of things such as vintage children's books, first edition copies of books, antique family photos and photo albums, retro advertisements, old newspapers, old maps, vintage greeting cards and valentines (very coquette and cute), some small home decorations, and cool little toys and knickknacks. There were so many great pieces of design that would make for beautiful artwork to hang on the wall.

I came prepared today with my red vintage cardigan, my New Yorker tote bag with cute vintage buttons, and my super reliable Hoka walking shoes! So I'm ready to shop!!

This paper show has thousands and thousands of vintage postcards. And the postcard tables are very serious, they have chairs and markers so customers can meticulously sort through each and every card. I think postcards are super cool, but this section of the market is a little overwhelming for me today because of just how many postcards there are. Plus, there's so much else to explore!

It's really fun to see all the rare antique books, but they tended to be kind of expensive here. So I found myself focusing on paper good like art prints, newspaper clippings, or valentine cards that I can frame and hang on the wall.

Something that I really like about all the booths here, is each one has its own specialty. There’s a halloween booth, a fashion booth, a vintage menu/restaurant memorabilia booth, a guy that has musical instrument posters, another one with a bunch of maps, and one lady that has all cat related children’s books. Entering each booth, I can feel the love that these collectors have for their collection and their hobby. And talking to them, they’re each so knowledgeable about these old items and about whatever subject it is that they're interested in. It's just so cool how niche each collection is.

I also think it’s so sweet that these types of items are kept and cherished through so many generations. The people here at this show love these objects deeply. And it’s nice to know that someone out there appreciates and protects these mundane pieces of paper. It’s crazy how many scrapbooks are here that document someone’s entire life. And so many pictures of people from a very long time ago. I find it comforting to know that these photos still exist, and there are people who will treasure that scrapbook, even though they never met the family in it.

Here's my vintage haul:
2 antique valentine's
another antique valentine of a little white dog wearing a bow
a musical instrument poster of a trumpet, with a little black & white photo of a man playing the trumpet
a newspaper ad that doubles as a board game. It's all in Italian, and the ad is for Nivea lotion

Here's my mom's haul (mostly fashion related memorabilia)
Mr. Peanut tin dishes. one big dish, and four tiny ones
The Stewart & Co Fashion Magazine from 1926
2 vintage illustrations of some very snazzy accessorized ladies
a 1979 issue of Vogue
The Sunday Herald paper doll dress (very elegant, with a beautiful silhouette)
poster for As Seen in Glamour Magazine, "vogue is the shoe for fashion"
vintage poster ad for Trend soap, "safer than the mildest soap for fine fabrics"

Thank you for joining me on this fun day out of vintage/antique shopping for books, paper, ephemera, and other fun things! And thank you for chatting with me about all my fun new goodies in the haul of everything my mom and I got.
