Ultimate Ford Maverick Mod: A Flux Capacitor!

Описание к видео Ultimate Ford Maverick Mod: A Flux Capacitor!

In this episode of John Builds Things, we’re diving into a Back to the Future-inspired project that’s sure to spark your imagination! As a lifelong fan of the iconic trilogy, I’ve always loved Doc Brown’s timeless wisdom: “If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.” That mindset inspired me to bring a piece of movie magic into the real world by building a miniature Flux Capacitor for my 2022 Ford Maverick.

This isn’t just any DIY; it’s a compact, functional, LED-lit tribute that fits snugly into the oddly-shaped dashboard cubby of the Maverick. Using Fusion360 for design, my trusty Ender 3 S1 Pro for 3D printing, and a Raspberry Pi Pico to power the lights and effects, I recreated the Flux Capacitor—complete with “time travel mode.”

In this video, I walk you through the entire process, from measuring the cubby, designing the model, soldering simple electronics, and even the light-curing glue hack that made assembly a breeze. I also share the code that brings the LEDs to life with dynamic effects, including a “time travel sequence.”

This project was a fun challenge to honor one of my favorite movies while entertaining my toddler, who’s already asking the big questions like, “Where’s the Flux Capacitor, Dad?” and “Why can’t we time travel yet?”

Whether you’re a Back to the Future fan, a maker, or just looking for a cool way to customize your Maverick, this build has something for you. Download the files and code to create your own dashboard Flux Capacitor—no need for a Delorean!
