JOHN SCHMIDT vs ALEX PAGULAYAN - 2023 DERBY CITY CLASSIC ONE POCKET DIVISION

A battle between two former champions in this event, with John Schmidt facing Alex Pagulayan in the 8th round of the Derby City Classic One Pocket Division.

Schmidt, 49, is known as "Mr. 600", for his run of 626 balls in straight pool. Schmidt was the 2009 Derby City Classic One Pocket Champion. The 2006 US Open 9-Ball Championship is another major title amongst the number of titles Schmidt has won.

"The Lion" Alex Pagulayan, 44, was a back to back Derby City Classic One Pocket Champion in 2015 and 2016. He is the only player in history who has won every title (including the all around title) that is competed for at Derby City. Pagulayan is affectionately known in the sport as "The smallest man with the biggest heart".
