Having faith in Christ and following Him should lead to a transformed life characterized by righteousness and holiness, rather than sinful behavior. Following Jesus means embracing a new way of life that seeks to reflect His character. It involves a continuous effort to resist sin, guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit, and to pursue holiness as a response to God's grace and love.

Romans 12:2 says, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." This transformation involves turning away from sinful behaviors and attitudes.

Romans 6:1-2 addresses the idea of continuing in sin after accepting Christ: "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?" This passage emphasizes that believers, being united with Christ, should no longer live in sin.

Galatians 5:16-17 teaches that those who follow Jesus are to live by the Spirit: "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh." The Holy Spirit empowers believers to overcome sinful desires.

1 Peter 1:14-16 calls believers to live holy lives: "As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy.'"

While grace is central to the Christian faith, it is not an excuse for sin. Titus 2:11-12 explains, "For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age."

2 Corinthians 5:17 states, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" This new creation implies a new way of living that rejects sin.
