Day on the Needles Tope

Early 5am start yesterday with Graham ( AKA Mr Shorecast) left the Itchen and headed for the needles .
By 6.45 we were anchored up fishing. Within the first 10mins fish on,yep fist of many Dogs lol. We were then joined on the mark by Dave Collins Solent Warrior and Easy Blue.
With the end tide well away the Tope came on the feed . Mainly taking whole Joey mackerel . Graham had the first nice Tope of 12lb and I got in on the action with one of 11lb.
During slack water we stuck a couple of rods over with baited feathers on and we picked up a couple of whiting. As soon as the flood tide started the bites and fish switched off. We then repositioned a couple of times on the bank but with no luck , so at 2pm we decided to call it a day and head home.
In total we had 15 to 20 Tope ranging from 7 to 12lb .
On the way home we had a problem with the fuel lost revs and power near Lymington so limped slowly home. Another job to do now lol.
