Geologic Mapping & Structural Geology - Episode 1 - Introduction

As voted by the ASBOGGERs Study Circle (on Facebook), we will be running through structural geology, paired with the basics of geologic mapping. I am using two separate books for each respective topic and will be combining a chapter from each into one episode. This series should be long, and successful at teaching you or refreshing your memory in principles of both structural geology and geologic mapping. This series will include the three point problem, developing cross-sections, what deformation/stress/strain is, and many other concepts.

In this first episode of a new playlist, we introduce Geologic Mapping, Structural Geology, why they are combined into a playlist, and how they relate. We are using two different books, respectively, to develop each episode. We introduce base maps, topographic maps, geologic maps, cross-sections, structure contours, structural geology, structural analysis, geometric analysis, tectonics, stress/strain, and brittle/ductile deformation.
