The fair was banned between 1922 and 1927 in view of the increasing anger of the people. At the same time, when the people's protest against it started in 1928, the ban on the fair was lifted.
According to Allahabad Records Department official Amit Kumar Agnihotri, people used to get a chance to meet each other at religious fairs. Because of which he used to exchange his revolutionary messages easily. Gradually, patriotic tableaux were also removed in such fairs. A strategy was also prepared against the English during this fair. This would have inspired people for the independence of the country. At the same time, the British could not stop such an event.
