For the second day in a row at the NESCAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, Bates remained in fourth place out of 11 teams on the strength of an All-NESCAC relay and an outstanding individual race by sophomore Caroline Apathy.

Apathy (Devon, Pa.) claimed first place in the 100-yard butterfly and broke Bates' team record in the process, finishing the championship final in 54.54 seconds, 0.48 ahead of runner-up Maia Hare of Williams. The previous team record of 54.90 was set by current junior Janika Ho (Los Angeles, Calif.).
