War and upheaval in many countries of the Middle East are causing untold damage and destruction to its archaeological heritage. Already, however, the rapid rise in population and in landscape development have dramatically transformed the archaeological landscape of even a peaceful country like Jordan. What has happened and how we may we salvage something?
