Look: this is the 75 ft steel beam! This is a robotic cell with a Kuka robot fixed on a gantry. With new technologies such as AI and machine vision, robotic welding is simple.

Step 1: the beam is placed freely into the work area with a crane.

Step 2: its 3D model is uploaded into the software, and the system automatically defines all the seams.

Step 3: machine vision scans the part, and the system finds differences between the ideal 3D model and the real part in the work area.

That's all. Robots know what to do. They are able to weld this part without programming. Note that during welding, such huge parts can be deformed. We have seen deviations up to 4 inches. But smart robots still manage to do it thanks to breakthrough technologies.
