Cooking on open fire with my Purcell Trench grill, which I always bring on canoe trips. Very light, strong and effective for my low fire cooking style, especially good for simmering in a pot, and slow cooking fish. The grill reduces the risk of burning food, and for canoe tripping the extra weight is negligible to carry. I also show lightweight cooking pots that I installed custom bail handles on. Part 3 of my "Boreal Spring Canoe Trip 2012" series, paddling and portaging through some backcountry small boreal lakes of Northwestern Ontario, 3rd week of May. Shot on day 2, a layover day. Gear info: Purcell Trench Grill, "Travelers" model, very light tubular stainless steel, TIG welded, no sharp edges; weight on my scales = 143g or 5.05 oz.; nylon carrying case (protects gear from soot) = 45g or 1.6 oz.

Pot set: It nests. Larger pot is the Evernew titanium deep 1.4 L; nesting pot is the Primus Litech aluminum 1L. I installed wire bail handles on both by making bent aluminum offset tabs (tab bend ensures bail does not interfere with the lid sealing), and drilled mounting holes and then pop riveted the bail tabs. Works well.
