This instructional video will show you how to integrity test hydrophobic filters using either bubble point or water breakthrough testing using the Pall integrity test kit.

Bubble point testing method (BPM) - for filters with 0.2-micron - 1-micron pore sizes.
BPM is a procedure that measures the pressure needed to be applied to the upstream side of a filter, causing bulk or open-pore flow through the largest pores of a wet filter.
Water breakthrough testing method (WBT) - for 0.2-micron hydrophobic filters.
This simple and reproducible integrity test is adopted by membrane manufacturers and reported in their literature for hydrophobic membranes. The hydrophobic PTFE membrane resists water penetration; however, water can be forced through it under high pressure. WBT test cannot be performed on units after an alcohol bubble point test due to residual alcohol “wetting out” the membrane.
