My name is Cody McDowell and I am a Maintenance Technician here at Chief Buildings. I started with Chief Buildings in 2021. Each morning at 6am, my team starts with 15 minutes of stretching. Understanding that our people are the most valuable asset, the team puts priority on staying healthy.

I then check the reports from the prior day to see if there are any high priority maintenance items I need to address. If not, I visit each department and do a review of how their machines are functioning. As Chief Buildings has become more automated in the plant, and as we continue to integrate large equipment into our processes, it requires me to do more regular maintenance and routine check-ups. My job is to ensure the plant experiences no down time due to failed machines and that they stay operational to meet our customers’ orders. This means you may find me welding in the morning, cleaning air filters in the afternoon, and changing belts or greasing gears at the end of my day. It’s different every single day and I am constantly learning.

It’s important for me to work alongside my team and understand how the machines are working so I’m ready for any high priority mechanical needs that require immediate attention. I really enjoy working with all the people on this team; it is an awesome part of my job and I wouldn’t trade it!
