I live in a small hamlet that is part of a small town with an enormous territory, the folk are steadfast and true. I wrote this song to honour those who work for a living and give thanks for welcoming me into this vibrant and healthful community of Potton, Canada.

This song requires a dedication. While working at a local general store I met many solid men with hands of leather, muscles of oak and feet firmly planted on the ground, an inspiration I desperately needed at the time. While there are so many hard working fellows (and ladies, guess I have to write another song….) in Potton I cannot name them all, I would like to name a few that have stood as models and helped get me back on track by their example. A special thank you to, David Oliver, Andy Cote, Ralph George, Danny Jones, Ken Jersey, Bill Jewett, Conrad Jewett, Murray Brown, Irving Heckley, Roger Gosselin and Ross Taylor. You are all unstoppable and as constant as the north star.

I further dedicate this song to all the folk in Potton who, as the song says, “Work for your wages”, Y’all put the energizer bunny to shame.
