At this stage of their lives, these Little Grebe Chicks were literally fed round the clock.
The hunting was mostly done by Dad, who would return regularly with a variety of food to feed his hungry trio.
It was so fun to watch the feeding. Little Grebes mostly hunt by diving for food.
Dad would miraculously pop up with food in mouth. Sometimes he would spring a surprise by appearing out of the blues, just next to Mum, who was with the sleeping chicks on her back. Dad's suddenly but uncanny appearance would wake the chicks up, and he would promptly stuff food into one of the chick's bill. Dad was very thoughtful too, taking care to feed all the chicks, as could be seen from 2:14 to 2:35, where he was observed to feed both chicks consecutively.
Little Grebes are very rare residents in Singapore.
