On Monday evening, US President Donald Trump said his administration stopped a potential nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan by helping broker a ceasefire between the two countries.
“I think it would have, it could have been a bad nuclear war. Millions of people could have been killed,” Trump said.

He added that he told both countries: “We’re going to do a lot of trade with you guys. Let’s stop it. Let’s stop it.”

These comments came just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation for the first time since the start of India-Pakistan strikes.
"If another terrorist attack against India is carried out, a strong response will be given," Modi said.
Trump’s comments have prompted Indian opposition parties to ask the government to clarify what role the US played in negotiating the ceasefire and also why Modi did not address these claims in his speech. India has not officially commented on this.
